Like many others, I recently switched to MAC.
As a result, I started to look into the medical software that are made available for both the professionals and the general public on MAC OS X. Usually there are a few data formats you may encounter if your doctor burns your MRI or PET scan into CDs for your future references. However, without proper display software, you may not be able to see them yourself.
Here are a few solutions if you want to either check out your own scans or just want to play with cool 3D or even 4D pictures for fun.
iphone
there have been increasingly amount of applications available every year for iphone. If you want to write one, it is pretty easy as long as you are familiar with C.
There is a pretty good company called MIMvista, which has developed some quite neat applications.
MAC
If you are a MAC user. You have the option of checking out several free applications in the software download section of apple's official website. I downloaded MedINRIA on my machine.
Or you can also use the software developed in Montreal Neurological Institute, such as DISPLAY or REGISTER.
If you happen to have MATLAB as well, you can download a medical imaging analysis toolbox for EEG or MRI viewing.
Also if you want to find out more on how to manipulate the images, here is a good reference for all the medical imaging analysis tools and tricks in MATLAB.
With these help, now you can see what exactly is in your body.
